    West Virginia & Iowa State Win on Big Monday

    West Virginia 60, Texas 58

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP)   Deniz Kilicli and Jabarie Hinds scored 14 points apiece to lead West Virginia to a 60-58 win over Texas on Monday night.

    West Virginia (11-11, 4-5 Big 12 Conference) swept the season series and sent the Longhorns (10-12, 2-7) to their seventh loss in nine games.

    Freshman Eron Harris added 13 points for West Virginia.

    Sheldon McClellan led Texas with 14 points and Javan Felix had 12.

    Texas trailed by as many as 11 early in the second half but went ahead 49-47 on two free throws by Felix with 8:21 left. But the Longhorns were held to nine points   and two field goals   the rest of the game.

    West Virginia scored five straight points, including Harris’ free throw that put the Mountaineers ahead 59-54 with 25 seconds left.

     

    Iowa St. 83, Oklahoma 64

    AMES, Iowa (AP)   Will Clyburn scored 19 points and Iowa State cruised past Oklahoma 83-64 on Monday night.

    Chris Babb had 12 points on four 3s for the Cyclones (16-6, 6-3 Big 12), who improved to 5-0 in Big 12 home games and 13-0 overall at Hilton Coliseum.

    Iowa State opened the second half with a 14-2 run, turning a comfortable lead into an insurmountable 58-33 advantage. The Sooners had just one basket in the first seven minutes of the second half and shot just 37 percent from the field.

    Andrew Fitzgerald had 12 points for Oklahoma (14-7, 5-4), which lost for the third time in four games.
