Public hearings took up some time at Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting, but so did bids.
The commission opened bids for the Whispering Meadows Unit 2 and after some review from Leu Lowery, Public Works Director, the commission will decide upon the recommendation.
The opening for temporary notes were on the agenda as well, and the commission approved the low bid from St. Mary’s State Bank with an interest rate of .48375%.
The commission also had updates from a couple of departments including from Dustin Trego, Management Assistant of Operations, Christ Trudo, with Emergency Management, Bruce Brazzle, Fire Supervisor, and Lois Schlegel, county appraiser.
Trego talked about the work with the Kansas Department of Transportation and the use of radios within the buses to help keep them connected with each other and with the ATA Bus dispatch.
Trudo reviewed the work his department has been doing including a test on April 1 for the tornado sirens. Trudo told commissioners only one was not working properly, but they had a call in to get it fixed that day.
Brazzle gave an update on the new EMS building and stated it is approximately 60 days away from completion.
Schlegel announced this quarter has been looking really good for sales with 51 sales in March and a total of 142 for the year so far.
The commission approved the washer and dryer change orders during their weekly update for the new Justice Center. There was some discussion of the curbing system for the parking lot, but nothing was decided Monday.
The commission will meet again next Monday.
