The first annual Grow Green match day will kick off on Monday at 7 a.m. at the Colony Square Atrium on 555 Poyntz Avenue.  The event will support 24 local non-profit organizations with matching funds for donors who participate.

Manhattan Community Foundation is putting on the event, and CEO Vern Henricks says they’ve received a lot of support for the event from local companies and are looking forward to engage the community to raise funds.

Henricks says the 24 organizations supported by the event work every day to enrich the community, and help those in need.

There is a $40,000 pot for matching funds, and brochures for the 24 organizations to help educate participants on which non-profit they would like to support.  Our own KMAN News anchor and reporter Tom Reust will be on hand during the morning hours at the event, and during the afternon our sister station z-96.3 will be present to meet donors and support the event.
