K-State Earns Win Over Oklahoma St. In Series Finale

Jared King hit a tie-breaking solo home run to left field in the sixth inning, and K-State salvaged the series with Oklahoma State behind a strong pitching performance from a pair of freshman in a 3-2 victory at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium in Stillwater on Sunday afternoon.  Blake McFadden worked the first four and two thirds innings, giving up two runs on four hits and a walk, with three strikeouts.  Jake Matthys (6-0) worked four and one third innings of two-hit relief with three strikeouts to win the most games by a reliever at K-State in the Big 12 era. He is one victory away from the most-ever wins by a K-State freshman.

K-State put up two runs in the top of the first on back-to-back RBI singles by Blair DeBord and Austin Fisher.  Oklahoma State starter Tyler Nurdin (0-2) took the loss, surrendering all three runs in five plus innings of work.

K-State (28-13, 7-5 Big 12) recovered on Sunday after dropping the first two games of the series to Oklahoma State (27-11, 7-7).  The Cats will finish their road trip at Nebraska for a 6:35pm first pitch on Tuesday night at Hawks Field in Lincoln.  The BD4 Distributing pregame show begins at 6:00 on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN.
