The Kansas State Wildcats scored early and often on Texas Tech Saturday leaving little suspense and no doubt about a series victory. The Bat Cats after having to score two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win Friday night’s game plated nine runs in the opening frame Saturday and led 13-0 after four innings on their way to a 15-2 thumping of the Red Raiders before 1,950 at Tointon Family Stadium.
Leading the offensive attack were Jon Davis and Shane Conlan….Davis had four hits and drove in four runs and Conlan’s three hits also led to four RBI’s. They were two of four Wildcats to hit homeruns on the day giving more than enough support for Matt Wivinis who won his fifth game in six decisions. Johnny Drozd took the loss for Tech as he lasted just a third of an inning while giving up seven earned runs.
Kansas State (22-10, 5-3) won the second of their three Big 12 series to date and ran its overall winning streak to four games. K-State will go for the sweep in Sunday’s finale as the two teams meet one more time in a 1:05 p.m. first pitch.
