KMAN news has just confirmed the victim in a fatal one vehicle accident on HIghway 24 just west of the Seth child intersection last month tested positive for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Kansas Highway Patrol Lt. Greg Harkrader tells KMAN Michael Ippert, 28, who died in the March 13th wreck, tested positive and Harkrader indicates that was a direct correlation to the accident.
Authorities were on the scene for several hours following the accident in which Ippert drifted off the edge of the roadway while driving his ’95 Chevrolet Tahoe. Ippert then overcorrected and lost control, striking a guardrail, overturning his vehicle. He was ejected from the vehicle as he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Ippert was originally from Wamego but had been living in the Manhattan area.
