Butler Leads Royals Rout Of Angels

By KMAN Staff on May 14, 2013 Sports

The Kansas City Royals had a rough weekend against the New York Yankees by being swept and finding no offense at all for the pitching staff. That wasn’t the case last night as the Royals opened up a west coast road trip against the LA Angels.

Kansas City (19-16) pounded out nineteen hits in the ball game scoring eleven runs as well in an 11-4 victory. Billy Butler showed why he is an all-star caliber man at the plate going five for five with five RBI’s with a couple of doubles. Salvador Perez, Lorenzo Cain and Alcides Escobar added three hits a piece for KC.

Luis Mendoza (1-2) picked up his first win of the season allowing three runs and six hits over six innings of work, and striking out six batters. Joe Blanton (0-7) continues to have struggles for the Angels as he was rocked for seven runs on twelve hits and getting pulled from the game before the fifth inning.

The Royals  will go for the series win against the Angels tonight with a 9:05 pm first pitch. The Royals will send Jeremy Guthrie (5-0) to the mound and the Angels will counter with Jason Vargas (1-3).
