    Riley County Health Dept. Names New Administrator

    The Riley County Health Department has named Brenda Nickel of Olpe, Kansas as its new administrator according to a press release issued late Monday afternoon.

    According to the release, Ms. Nickel is currently employed at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment as Director and Accreditation Coordinator. Nickel has also served KDHE as a Public Health Nurse Consultant. Nickel also was employed as a nurse in the Emporia School District, the Lyon County Health Department and at St. Mary Hospital in Emporia.

    Ms. Nickel’s educational background includes a diploma from the Newman School of Nursing in Emporia and Bachelor and Masters of Science Degrees in Nursing from the University of Kansas School of Nursing.

    “We are excited to have Brenda lead the Riley County Health Department,” said Dave Lewis, Chair of the Riley County Commission. “She brings a strong background in public health and a vibrant personality that will be a good fit for Riley County.”
