The unofficial final results from Tuesday night’s special election regarding a USD 378 bond proposal shows the defeat of that proposal by a more than two to one margin. With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, 764 voted no and 358 said yes. In percentages, that’s 68 percent saying no to about 32 percent saying yes. The voter turnout for the special election was nearly 42 percent of registered voters in the USD 378 voting district.
Results will not be official until the June 17th canvass.
KMAN news will be speaking with USD 378 Supt. Brad Starnes early Wednesday morning about the next step for the school district.
In an email to KIDS committee members who worked on the proposal, Starnes indicated “disappointed doesn’t describe the feeling, but our voters have spoken.” He says the district still has needs that should be addressed, with the board of education to look at what is to be done now.

With 50 percent of the precincts reporting, the latest vote total shows 189 people favor the proposal, amounting to about 35 percent of the vote. 348 voters are saying no to the Riley County USD 378 special bond issue, amounting to nearly 65 percent of the precincts reporting thus far.

While final numbers from voting in Tuesday’s special bond election for Riley County’s USD 378 have yet to come in, the advance votes indicate opposition to the proposal. Of 199 advance votes cast 132 or about 67 percent say no, with 65 or nearly 33 percent saying yes. There are 2,710 registered votes in the USD 378 voting district.
KMAN news will provide unofficial final numbers a bit later in the evening. The numbers won’t be official though until the June 17th canvass.
