    Carmichael and McGruder Go Undrafted

By KMAN Staff on June 28, 2013 Big 12 Sports, K-State Sports, Sports

The NBA draft came and went on Thursday night in Brooklyn, New York, and neither MHS grad Jackie Carmichael nor K-State standout Rodney McGruder went off the board after two rounds and 60 picks.  Carmichael, who had an all-Missouri Valley career at Illinois State, was considered by NBA Draft experts to be a surprise not to be selected. Both players are expected to get a chance to play in the NBA Summer League.

Four players from the Big 12 were picked in the NBA Draft.  The only first rounder was Kansas guard Ben McLemore, who was selected 7th overall by the Sacramento Kings.  Jayhawk big man Jeff Withey was taken by the Portland Trail Blazers at #39 overall, Baylor point guard Pierre Jackson was grabbed the Philadelphia 76ers at #42 overall, and Oklahoma forward Romero Osby went #51 overall to the Orlando Magic.
