The Big 12 Player of the Year will be back to defend his title. Junior second baseman Ross Kivett announced today that he will return to K-State for his senior season.
Kivett was drafted in the 10th round (291 overall) by his hometown Cleveland Indians and would have been looking at a signing bonus of around $100,000. He announced his decision on his twitter account.
I have decided after long deliberation, outside advice, prayer and speaking with my family that it would be best if I RETURN to Kansas State for my senior year!
Kivett was the Big 12 Player of the Year in 2013 after leading K-State to it’s first ever Super Regional appearance. He also picked up All-America honors from three different publications since the season ended.
Junior Jared King already announced his decision to give up his final year of eligibility to sign with the New York Mets. The Mets drafted King with the 146th overall pick in the fifth round. Redshirt Sophomore Shane Conlon was taken in the 21st round of the draft by the Kansas City Royals and hasn’t announced his decision yet.
