Another Monday has come and gone and with that another Pottawatomie County Commission meeting.
On the agenda for Monday, there were a host of different department updates for the commission.
Leu Lowrey, Public Works Director, came in to talk about the moving of the sheriff’s department once the transition to the new Justice Center is done. The cost associated with the project is expected to be about 50 thousand dollars.
Lois Schlegel, County Appraiser, brought forth a few legislative items that will affect her office including the changes to come with boats and water craft. Basically, all water craft will now be taxed no matter on the assessed value.
Schlegel also told the commission May held a record breaking month as there were 87 sales made, which is the highest month since about 2007.
Bruce Brazzle, Fire Supervisor, informed the commission the new EMS building in Westmoreland will be completed either the end of the week or early next week.
Brazzle added this building is being used to help Onaga with the design and concepts for the one planned there.
Dustin Trego, Management Assistant of Operations, gave his updates stating May had a few less riders, but was holding pretty steady on revenue. There were 220 riders for May with a total of 835 rides made.
Bob Cole, Economic Development, brought forward two businesses looking to move into the Green Valley Business Park Area. These are Cat Cans and McElroys.
The commission will meet again next Monday.
