Tyler Lockett and Tramaine Thompson have been multi-dimensional players since they arrived on the K-State campus, both as wide receivers and return men. The Wildcat duo were recognized on Friday by being named to the preseason watch list for the Paul Hornung Award. The award is given to the most versatile player in major college football. Former K-State running back Daniel Thomas was nominated for the first Paul Hornung Award in 2010.
Lockett was third in the kickoff return average at 32.76 yards per runback, and has taken back four kickoffs for touchdowns during his career. He also was second at K-State last season with 44 receptions for 687 yards and four touchdowns.
Thompson led the nation with a 19.75 yard punt return average in 2012 thanks to six that went for 20 or more yards, including an 89-yard return for a score in the season opener against Missouri State. He also hauled in 37 passes for 526 yards and tied Lockett for team-high honors with four receiving touchdowns.
