    Motorcycle Accident Injures One

    More details have been provided regarding a motorcycle/deer accident in far eastern Pottawatomie county early Thursday morning.

    James Leonard, 33, with a last known address of Duluth in Pottawatomie county, was driving his Harley at about 5:15 a.m., when he hit a deer at the intersection of highway 63 and McDonald Road.

    Leonard reportedly suffered some severe road rash and was transported to Onaga Community hospital.

    Pottawatomie county authorities indicate he was not wearing a helmet. He was observed talking and walking around the accident site shortly after the accident.

    The roadway was blocked for less than an hour.

    The Pottawatomie County sheriff’s department responded to an injury accident involving a motorcycle early this morning.

    The accident occurred on highway 63 near McDonald Road and the State lake road entrance there. The report came in at about 5:15 a.m.

    A sheriff’s department spokesman indicates the accident involved James Leonard, who was driving a Harley motorcycle which struck a deer. Leonard suffered some severe road rash but was reportedly talking and walking around at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. Leonard was transported for medical treatment.

    The accident scene disrupted traffic for a while, but was reportedly cleaned up just before six a.m..
