As the completion date is only a few weeks off, a date has been decided for the open house to allow the public to tour the new Justice Center before the departments make their move.
On Saturday, August 10, from 10 am until 2 pm, the building will be opened and guests will get to tour the facility.
After Phase II of the project, a dedication ceremony will be held as a final completion of the new Justice Center.
Though, the Justice Center looks to be ending on time, there is concern for another project as a letter was read during Monday’s meeting showing unease as to the progress of the Westmoreland Bridge project.
Pat Weixelman, Commission Chair, explained the project has been started, there just hasn’t been any activity since the beginning. There is hope there will be work completed sometime this week.
Bob Cole, Economic Development Director, brought in a presentation to review with commissioners as to the progress they have been making to bring in businesses and also to where their budget money goes.
Betty Abitz, the Register of Deeds, brought forth a budget request for an additional person into their office.
Abitz made the request with concern for the health of her current employees and the load they endure and also the accuracy.
According to Abitz, their work load has been on a steady increase and part time help just doesn’t handle the work load like having another full time person there would.
The commission said they would look at their budget and see.
Leslie Campbell, County Health Director, also made a request for a rehire of a current position that will be vacant here in a couple of months.
The commission approved her request.
