Taylor Johnson led three players in double-figure kills with a career-high 13 as K-State volleyball outlasted Portland in five sets 24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 15-11 during the season opener in the UNLV Invitational at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Friday night.  Lilla Porubek added 12 kills, and Chelsea Keating also put up a career-high with 11.  Preseason co-Big 12 freshman of the year Katie Brand registered 50 assists in her debut as the Cats’ starting setter.  Manhattan native and senior Tristan McCarty tied a career mark with 17 digs in her first start at libero.  Brand led the K-State front line with five blocks.
