KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) In the first round of cuts, The Kansas City Chiefs let go sixth-round draft pick and former K-State fullback Braden Wilson, quarterback Ricky Stanzi, and a dozen other players Sunday night as they prepared to reach the 75-man limit by Tuesday.
Wilson was a mainstay in the backfield as a lead blocker for a Wildcat rushing attack that ranked among the Big 12’s best in each of the last two seasons. He had six carries for 13 yards and a touchdown last season, to go along with five receptions for 34 yards.
Stanzi was beaten out for the No. 3 quarterback job by undrafted free agent Tyler Bray. He was joined by wide receiver Terrance Copper and defensive back Neiko Thorpe in players who were part of last year’s 2-14 team that were involved in the first round of cuts.
Three rookie K-State undrafted free agents were also let go on Sunday by NFL teams. Cornerback Allen Chapman was cut by the Colts, Meshak Williams was released by the Ravens, and running back Angelo Pease was cut by the Packers.
