Snyder: Lucas and Miller “Should Be on Field”, Depth Chart Reveals Defensive 1st Team

Neither senior offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas nor wide reciever Torrell Miller appeared during an open practice at the Fall Football Kickoff in earlier this month at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, fueling speculation that both players were dealing with injury.  Both players were listed on the first depth chart of the season.  K-State head coach Bill Snyder on Tuesday addressed the situation and says both “should be on the field” on Friday when the Wildcats take on North Dakota State.

The Cats must replace eight starters on defense including the entire four-man front.  The starters at defensive end on the depth chart are pencilled in as Ryan Mueller and Markel Bryant along with Travis Britz and Shaq Reed at defensive tackle.

Tre Walker is K-State’s lone returning starter at linebacker on the strong side.  Blake Slaughter is slated to start in the middle, and Jonathan Truman appears to get the nod on the weak side.

All-Big 12 safety Ty Zimmerman will be joined in the starting lineup by the player who replaced him when he went with a leg injury during the TCU game last year, sophomore DJ Barnett.  Randall Evans played nickel back in 2012, and is listed as a starting cornerback on the depth chart, as is Dorrian Roberts.

Kickoff on Friday for the Wildcats and Bison will be at 7:30pm with pregame coverage starting at 3:30 with Powercat Gameday on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock.
