Only a few items on their Monday agenda, the Pottawatomie County Commission had a few department updates to go over.
Scott Schwinn, County Sanitarian and Transfer Station Supervisor, explained to the commission there has been some issues with people not properly maintaining their lagoons and therefore he wants to implement a campaign to get things changed. Schwinn mentioned he’ll be sending out letter, doing inspections, and if need be he’ll be having the county attorney involved for legal action.
Schwinn also reminded the commission they will be having their free day on October 5.
Leslie Campbell, Health Department Director, gave her update and informing the commission on Wednesday there will be an Affordable Care Act presentation for anyone who wants to attend.
Campbell, also, explained they have seen an increase in activity as school has started back up and they are preparing to get vaccines distributed before flu season arrives.
The commission was also informed road work is being done on Vineyard road and they will hopefully have detour signs out this week for the Westmoreland Bridge project which is progressing.
The county administration is also looking into solutions for an issue of the cleaning crew for the new justice center not having access to certain areas after a specific time. One hope by Robert Reece, County Administrator, is to just have them come in earlier, but contact must be made before any decisions are final.
