    Homicide Investigation In Riley County

    Updated Monday at 10:30 a.m.:

    On Sunday, September 8, 2013 at approximately 2:30 PM, Officers with the Riley County Police Department were dispatched to the residence of John Burroughs, 68, located at 2500 Farm Bureau Road Lot #277; to conduct a welfare check. At the residence, officers discovered the deceased body of John Burroughs. Due to evidence at the scene this death has been ruled a homicide. The investigation of this incident is ongoing.

    The Riley County Police Department asks those with information pertaining to the murder of John Burroughs to please contact RCPD (785-537-2112) or the Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers. You can remain anonymous, collect calls are accepted, and you may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.     Police are declining comment on the cause of death.

    Riley County Police are investigating a reported homicide from this past weekend

    RCPD Public Information Officer Matt Droge confirmed the homicide report just before eight Monday morning, but provided no further details.

    However Droge indicates he will have more information during Monday’s media briefing at 9:45 a.m.
