    Congressman Huelskamp Comments on Shutdown

    0
By KMAN Staff on October 1, 2013 Local News

The Federal government came to a halt Tuesday, and U.S. Congressman Tim Huelskamp of Kansas says it’s been a long time coming.

“In the last few months, the House has passed numerous appropriations bills; but for four years now, the U.S. Senate, under the control of Harry Reid, has refused to pass any single spending bill.”

Despite the shutdown, Hueslkamp says essential programs are still in operation and most Federal employees are still at work.

“You’re still gonna get your mail, Medicare is still getting paid, Social Security checks are going to arrive, the Military is on duty thank goodness, the FBI, CIA, take your pick all those things are still going on.”

The online health care exchanges also opened Tuesday and Huelskamp says its clear that Obamacare is not ready for “primetime”.

“It was supposed to be ready to go, I think we can demonstrate without a doubt its time to repeal, refund, delay, rollback.”

Huelskamp adds the House will continue to send spending bills to the Senate until a compromise is reached.
