Courtney Traxson put down a career high 19 kills as K-State volleyball took the first set from #23 Kansas on Saturday night at the Horesji Center in Lawrence, but the Jayhawks rallied for a 19-25, 26-24, 25-14, 25-18 victory. The Cats led set two 21-20, but KU finished out the set on a 6-3 run. The Jayhawks controlled the third frame, and broke a 14-14 deadlock in the fourth with an 11-4 spurt to finish.
Kaitlynn Pelger also hit double-digit kills with 16 for K-State (16-9, 4-8), and Katie Brand dished out a match high 51 assists. Tristan McCarty topped the Cats with 14 digs, while Pelger and Chelsea Keating each had three blocks. Kansas (20-6, 10-3) was led by 14 kills from both Manhattan High grad Catherine Carmichael and Sara McClinton.
K-State volleyball now will host Baylor on Wednesday night at 7:00pm. Pregame from Ahearn Fieldhouse begins at 6:30 on 1350kman.com.
