Governor Extends Condolences To Westmoreland Soldier’s Family

Kansas Governor Sam Brownback issued a statement Friday upon learning of the death of Sergeant First Class Forrest W. Robertson of Westmoreland, Kan. Sgt. Robertson died Nov. 3 of injuries sustained when his dismounted patrol received rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire in Logar Province, Afghanistan.

“On behalf of the State of Kansas, Lt. Governor Colyer and I extend our deepest sympathies to Sgt. Robertson’s family and friends,” Governor Brownback said. “We offer our deepest gratitude for his service and heartfelt sympathy to his family.”

Robertson, 35, was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 6th Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia and deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Funeral plans for Robertson have not yet been announced. He is survived by his wife, children and mother.
