Music of 50’s and 60’s were playing as conversation picked up among those who attended Saturday’s Sock Hop event.

The local VFW Post 1786 put on the event to help gather socks, boxers, briefs, and bras for the VA hospital.

Though attendence was a bit lower than previous years, the Women’s Auxiliary group received over 1300 socks for their donation.

During their event, they also began to spread word of another fundraiser they’ll be having next year for cancer research.

The plan is to have a dinner, auctions, and entertainment on March 15, 2014 to raise money.

Anyone wishing to get more information about this or other VFW events, you can call 785-776-4177 or stop by their location at 212 South 4th Street here in Manhattan.
