Riley County falls to Hiawatha 25-8

0
By KMAN Staff on November 6, 2013 Sports

Riley County’s season is over after a 25-8 loss at Hiawatha in the bi-district round of the 3A playoffs.

The Falcons hung with the Red Hawks and their Nebraska-bound defensive end Peyton Newell for most of the night, but made too many mistakes in the end.

After falling behind 13-0, Riley County got back into it with a 42-yard touchdown pass from Brice Brummett to Landin Griffith. The Falcons would get the ball back down just 13-8 to start the second half, but things went south from the opening kickoff of the third quarter.

The Falcons end their season at 4-6 after making their seventh straight trip to the playoffs. Hiawatha moves on to play Silver Lake on Saturday. The Eagles ended Hiawatha’s season last year in the same round of the playoffs.
