A Manhattan woman who has been serving as Director of Kansas’ Division for Tourism, for the Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism, is no longer serving in that position.
That was the word regarding Becky Blake, from Linda Craghead, the Department’s Assistant Secretary for Parks and Tourism, who sent emails to that effect Wednesday.
No reason was given for the sudden move, although Craghead indicates she and the Department’s Secretary Robin Jennison and Governor Sam Brownback appreciate the contributions Blake has made to the state of Kansas in her role as tourism director since 2005.
The email adds the Governor has long recognized the importance of tourism, citing executive reorganization order 36, which formed the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism.
The search for Blake’s successor will begin in 2014. Craghead indicates the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will re-assess the overall strategic plan for Kansas tourism, with Craghead directing the department’s tourism program until a new director is named.
