The pedestal atop the roundabout at 4th and Bluemont in Manhattan will be empty no more with the scheduled delivery of the “Peace Offering on the Blue” sculpture.
A ribbon cutting will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday to unveil the bronze rendition of a Kaw Indian Chief offering a customary peace pipe to all.
When the roundabout was built in 2010, plans called for a sculpture to sit on the pedestal in the roundabout. Gillette, Wyo., artist Tom Ford successfully negotiated a contract earlier this year with the city to design, fabricate and install the sculpture. Ford will be on hand for the ribbon cutting.
The City asks motorists to please drive slowly in the area of 4th and Bluemont and obey all temporary traffic control signs during the installment of the sculpture.
