4:30 p.m.- The Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 729 Brierwood Drive early Thursday afternoon for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a two-story residence with smoke and flames coming through the roof. The fire was contained to the attic within 30 minutes of the initial alarm assignment. Crews responded with 5 fire apparatus and 17 firefighters, with the last units still on scene at roughly 3:30 p.m. Brierwood Drive was closed for several hours due to the fire.
Manhattan Firefighters were called to the 700 block of Briarwood Drive shortly before 1:30 Thursday afternoon. KMAN’s Laura Monsanto was on the scene and reports at least seven emergency vehicles on the scene, mostly Manhattan Fire and Riley County EMS with an ambulance. The roof has apparent damage and the hose was still extended to the roof shortly after 2 p.m.
