Armed Robbery At Ray’s Apple Market

Rays Apple Market-downtownUpdated at 2 p.m. Thursday:

Riley County Police released details just before 2 p.m. Thursday regarding Wednesday night’s armed robbery and aggravated assault at Ray’s Apple Market downtown.
 
Public Information Officer Mat Droge indicates RCPD was contacted at 9:05 p.m., regarding the incident at 222 North Sixth Street. Police were told two subjects, one brandishing a handgun, had entered the grocerty store and then a short time later were able to flee the area with U-S currency. The amount is not being released. There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.
 
Police officers and detectives with the Riley County Police Department have begun a thorough investigation into the matter. As the status of this investigation is ongoing there is no further information to be released at this time.If you have information about this crime, contact the Riley County Police Department at 785-537-2112. Updated Noon Thursday:

15 hours after a reported armed robbery at Ray’s Apple Market at Sixth and Leavenworth Streets in downtown Manhattan, there still are no details from Riley County Police.  A brief mention of the event is on the RCPD web page, saying “Police responded to an armed robbery at the Rays Apple Market at approximately 9:00 PM on the 5th of February. A press release will be issued outlining more details of this incident.”

 
As of noon today no more details have been provided.
 
As KMAN announced Wednesday night,  Dispatch said no one was injured in the incident. KMAN s Laura Monsanto reports she was told police were looking for two individuals dressed in black a short time after the robbery. Several officers responded to the scene and the surrounding area.
 
A dispatcher Thursday morning indicated more details were to be released later in the morning and Public Information Officer Mat Droge told KMAN at about eight a.m. he would try to get a news release out after being briefed on the matter, and as soon as possible.

An Armed Robbery took place at Ray’s Apple Market at 6th and Leavenworth Streets in Downtown Manhattan Wednesday night. Riley County Police Dispatch tells KMAN that the robbery occurred at around 9 p.m. No further information was released but Dispatch said no one was injured in the incident.
