Thursday Game With Auburn Highlights KSU Schedule

0
By KMAN Staff on February 3, 2014 K-State Sports, Sports

K-State’s regular season schedule for the 2014 football season will last from August to December, includes two Thursday night games and will include five Saturday’s without a game. The slate is highlighted by a match up with Auburn on Thursday, September 18th.

The Wildcats’ Big 12 home games will be against Texas Tech, Texas, Oklahoma State and Kansas, while K-State hits the road to play Iowa State, Oklahoma, TCU, West Virginia and Baylor. The game with Iowa State on September 6th will be just the second game of the season.

There are plenty of home games on the schedule early, with K-State leaving home just twice in the first two months of the season. K-State will then be on the road three times in the final month of the season.

Six bowl eligible teams from last season are on the schedule, including three teams that played in BCS bowl games.

There has been strong fan reaction against the Auburn game being moved to Thursday, but K-State Athletic Director John Currie told fans in his latest “Letter from the A.D.” that a chance to play in the national spotlight was a big reason for the change.

“Schools very similar to K-State, like Virginia Tech and Clemson, have dramatically enhanced their programs’ (and school) national brand position over the last 20 years by playing Thursday night games at home almost every year,” Currie said in the letter.

The regular season opens on August 30th when the Wildcats host Stephen F. Austin.

2014 Schedule:

August 30th – STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
September 6th – at Iowa State
September 13th – BYE
September 18th – AUBURN
September 27th – UTEP
October 4th – TEXAS TECH
October 11th – BYE
October 18th – at Oklahoma
October 25th – TEXAS
November 1st – OKLAHOMA STATE
November 8th – at TCU
November 15th – BYE
November 20th – at West Virginia
November 29th – KANSAS
December 6th – at Baylor
