A Kansas native has thrown his name into the race for the 1st Congressional District.
Republican Kent Roth, of Ellinwood, Kansas, decided to run back in October, but has since officially announced he will be running to take the seat that covers 63 counties in Kansas.
Roth is a University of Kansas and Washburn School of Law graduate.
Though, being away for politics for about 30 years, Roth explained in an interview with KMAN, there needs to be new leadership in Congress.
“I view him [Congressman Tim Huelskamp] as the apple that spoiled the rest of the apples in the basket,” Roth said.
Roth is looking to regain support for agriculture from Congress if elected.
Roth stated, “My first request to the Speaker of the House will be for appointment to the Agriculture Committee.”
