A student in Junction City USD 475 has been identified as the source of recurring network issues plaguing the school district’s computers for the last several weeks.
Since the 13th of February, USD 475 has been experiencing unexplained network outages caused by an unknown source. After investigation by district IT specialists and staff, a student was identified as suspect behind the network problems.
The suspect, a 16 year-old male, was brought into the investigation around 3:00 P.M. today. The network outages appear to be the result of intentional actions by the student. The juvenile was taken into custody, arrested on charges involving 10 counts of Unlawful Acts Concerning Computers.
The juvenile will be held at the North Central Kansas Juvenile Detention Facility until his first appearance in Geary County District Court. The matter is still under investigation by USD 475 and the Junction City Police Department.
