By KMAN Staff on March 1, 2014 Fort Riley, Geary County, Local News, Manhattan, Pottawatomie County, Riley County, Wamego

The Winter Storm that moved into Northeast Kansas Saturday night did not produce nearly the amount of snow that was predicted but bitterly cold temperatures are in effect for at least the next 36 hours.

The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for Riley and Pottawatomie Counties in effect until 9 a.m. CST on Monday. Sustained winds will be between 10 and 20 MPH out of the Northeast with gusts up to 30 MPH. Those winds will put Wind Chill values anywhere between minus 10 and minus 24 through Monday morning. The low temperature for Manhattan Sunday night into Monday is forecast to be minus eight.

As for the snow anywhere from one to two inches fell in the area overnight.
