Cats Earn 20th Win of the Season Against Huskers

Reigning Big 12 player of the year Ross Kivett led the offensive charge as K-State held off Nebraska 10-6 on Wednesday night in Lincoln.  Kivett had three hits, scored two runs, and knocked in another against the Huskers.  Shane Conlon and Austin Fisher each led the Cats with 3 RBI’s.
Despite all the offense, K-State had to call Jake Whaley out of the bullpen with the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 9th.  Whaley stranded the bases loaded by striking out Nebraska second baseman Pat Kelly.  The junior college transfer earned his first save, and Jake Fromson picked up the win with three innings of one-run relief.
K-State now heads to Lubbock, Texas for a crucial three-game series at Rip Griffin Park.  First pitch on Friday night against Texas Tech is at 6:30pm, and the BD4 Distributing/Cary Company pregame show starts at 6:00 on KMAN with Matt Walters and Chris Kutz.
