If you saw some activity around Manhattan High School Friday morning, it was all part of an exercise. Mat Droge, Public Information Officer for the Riley County Police Department, tells KMAN participating agencies included   the Manhattan Fire Department, Riley County EMS, and other agencies and organizations in the area to include Life Star.

The exercise involved a simulated vehicle collision for the purposes of educating students and staff of USD 383 (more specifically the Manhattan High School West Campus located at 2100 Poyntz Avenue) on the dangers of driving distracted or intoxicated. Droge said at the scene the hope is it will help the high schoolers keep that image in their minds, especially with Prom weekend coming up. Droge adds no text, voice mail, email, or tweet, is worth someone else’s life.
