One dead, another injured in accident near Onaga

Further details were released late Monday morning regarding a two vehicle fatal accident in Pottawatomie County Sunday afternoon.
 
Sheriff Greg Riat has announced Don Collette, 69, of Clay Center died as a result of the accident, reported just after two p.m. on highway 16, east of Lincoln Road in rural Onaga.
 
The accident occurred when a  2000 Ford Windstar being driven by Collette was Westbound on K-16 and crossed into the East bound lane of K-16. It then struck an Eastbound vehicle also on K-16, a 2011 Chevrolet pickup being driven by Timothy Taylor, 65, of Trimble, Missouri. Taylor did not report being injured at the scene. However his wife, who was the sole passenger in the Chevrolet pickup, was transported to a local hospital.
 
Collette was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
 
This accident continues to be under investigation.Sheriff Riat indicates at the time of the accident smoke from a pasture fire was present.

A fatality has been reported in Pottawatomie County following an accident Sunday afternoon near Onaga.

Names are not being released at this time, but the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s office reports the two vehicle head-on collission was reported at two Sunday afternoon on highway 16, one mile east of Lincoln Road. Local fire department, sheriff’s department,and Kansas Highway Patrol authorities responded.

Multiple people were taken to the Onaga hospital, with one later dying. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time.
