Around 80 bicyclists enjoyed this year’s Cycle CASA event, which featured two separate bike routes. Both the long route and the short route began at the Poyntz shelter in Manhattan City Park, and both had several stops along the way. Participants rode there bikes anywhere from 12 miles to 67 miles.
Traditionally, the event is held on the second Saturday of every May, to raise awareness and support of the Sunflower CASA volunteers. The program trains volunteers to advocate for neglected and abused children within the court system.
Executive Director of Sunflower CASA, Jayme Morris-Hardeman said they usually have between 80-100 riders for the event.
