Congressman Tim Huelskamp made it official Tuesday, filing for re-election at the Kansas Secretary of State’s office. The Congressman tells KMAN he’s excited about the campaign.

Huelskamp, a Fowler Republican, admits it’s been an interesting term in office–and he admits there have been lots of surprises. He says his favorite answer to the question “Was it everything you thought it would be?” is “Oh yes and much worse.”

Republican Alan LaPolice of Clyde and Democrat Bryan Whitney of Wichita are the only two who have officially filed for the position at the Secretary of State’s office, although Democrat Jim Sherow of Manhattan has announced his intentions to run for the office.

Huelskamp says he has unfinished work in Washington, with a lot of battles on behalf of Kansas, including over-regulation, the economy, and Obamacare.

Huelskamp says he’s not worried about the campaign and says he loves the campaign and listening to people. The Kansas Congressman adds the majority of his constiuents seems to like what he is doing, referring to the 238 in-person town halls in the past three and a half years.

The Congressman has served Kansas in the First district since 2011.
