Kellen Myers laced a two-run double into the left center field gap to send Manhattan High to state with a 6-5 nine-inning victory over Lawrence High on Tuesday night in the 6A regional final. The Indians overcame three deficits to the Lions in the game, including a RBI single from Bret Fehr to send the game to extra innings in the seventh tied at 4.
Meyers led MHS with three RBI’s, and Fehr, Chris Klug, and Alex Huerta joined him with multi-hit efforts. Jesse Steinbring earned the victory on the mound for the Tribe.
Manhattan High will be the top seed in the 6A state tournament next Thursday and Friday at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence. NewsRadio 1350 KMAN will follow the Indians at state.
