(Accident update from Wednesday afternoon in separate story)

A 21-year-old Manhattan man was arrested early Thursday morning on a variety of charges including aggravated burglary and drug-related counts. Police arrested Drew Smading for aggravated burglary, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of MDMA, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Smading’s bond was set at $18,000. Police report they caught up with Smading after he entered the Pizza Hut on Moro Street and removed items that did not belong to him. These items included a hand cart and a keg which were both recovered. Upon Smading’s arrest for aggravated burglary, several drug related items were located on his person.
Also arrested by Riley County police was 44-year-old Sam Demercurio of Ogden for driving while under the influence and possession of methamphetamine. Demercurio was arrested while in the 300 block of 11th Street in Ogden. His bond was listed as $7,000.

Riley county police announced Thursday morning they filed a report Wednesday morning for aggravated assault in the 5500 block of Fort Riley Blvd.
Timothy Bishop, 21, of Manhattan reported while he was travelling on K-18, another driver brandished a handgun. Police were told that as both drivers were traveling west on the highway, the handgun was pointed in Bishop’s direction. No injuries and no shots fired were reported.
Currently police are investigating the matter and have listed a suspect. No arrests have been made at the time of this report, and further investigation is pending.

The Riley County Police Department filed a report Wednesday morning for criminal damage to property in the 500 block of Richards Drive. The Four Points Sheraton Hotel reported to police that a room in their building had nearly $5,000 worth of damage to the walls when a glow stick had been rubbed on them. This occurred the night prior when an unknown subject or subjects entered the room and rubbed the liquid insides of the glow stick on the walls. Currently no arrests have been made, however officers continue to investigate the matter further.
