    RCPD Accident Update

    Updated Thursday morning:

    Riley County Police updated an accident report Thursday morning KMAN first told you about early Wednesday afternoon.
     
    The two vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Seth Child Road and Claflin. Riley County Police say Julian Ybarra, 69, of Manhattan was cited for failure to stop at a red light and Charles Ponton Jr., 67, also of Manhattan was arrested for driving while under the influence shortly after the collision.
     
    Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:00 PM and closed off the eastbound lanes of Claflin and one southbound lane of Seth Child. Ybarra, driving a 1994 Chevy Astro Van, collided with Ponton who was in a 2001 Ford Mustang and in the process of turning east onto Claflin from Seth Child. Riley County EMS was declined by all those involved.

    Updated: 2:30 p.m.

    The accident at Claflin and Seth Child has been cleaned up and the road is open.

    Riley County Police Public Information Officer Mat Droge tells KMAN injuries did not seem to be major. Further details will be provided Thursday.

    Riley County Police are urging motorists to avoid the area of Claflin and Seth Child, with an accident reported there shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

    Injuries are reported to be involved and emergency crews are on the scene.
