Kansas State’s Football program reached another milestone Saturday when for the 21st consecutive year one of their players was selected in the National Football League Draft. Offensive Tackle Tavon Rooks was picked 26th in the sixth round (No. 202 Overall) by the New Orleans Saints. With that pick K-State now has the longest Draft streak in the Big 12 Conference since Texas was shut out over the three-day event. The Longhorns did not have a player selected for the first time since 1937 ending a nation’s-best 76-year streak.
Four other Wildcats signed as free agents soon after the Draft wrapped up Saturday in New York. Safety Ty Zimmerman along with Mark Krause will join Rooks in New Orleans while Offensive Lineman Cornelius Lucas inked a deal with the Detroit Lions and Wide Receiver Tramaine Thompson agreed to terms late Saturday night with the Atlanta Falcons.
