K-State’s Jack Karapetyan has received a medical hardship waiver for the 2013-14 season, his first in Manhattan, after playing just twenty minutes in six games. The school and the Big 12 announced the news in a press release Monday.
Karapetyan signed with K-State in July 2013 after a year at prep school and battled a foot injury during his freshman season. He will still have four years of eligibility after the medical hardship.
To qualify for a medical hardship, an athlete must suffer a season ending injury that occurs in the first half of the season. The athlete also must not have participated in 30% of the season or three games, whichever is greater.
Karapetyan chose K-State over Long Beach State, among other scholarship offers, according to rivals.com.
