According to a news release from RCPD, Captain Hegarty’s work along with Dr. Susan Williams of Kansas State University, her department and members of the Riley County Police Department’s Patrol Division have afforded the community proof that intelligence lead policing can have a positive effect on area crime. Department endeavors like Initiative: Laser Point, a hot spot policing program, is listed as part of this research partnership.
The Evidence-Based Policing Hall of Fame is in association with the Center for Evidence-Based Crime Policy of George Mason University.
