An October sixth sentencing date is set for a Junction City man who entered a no contest plea earlier this summer in a felony animal cruelty case. Michael Hall, 47,  is involved in a Geary County case of hanging a German Shepherd puppy until it died. Halls’s last sentencing date was September fifth, but it had to be continued as the defense did not arrange for a required psychological evaluation for the defendant.
In another Geary County case,  Kevin Guiler, 27, of Fort Riley recently entered a plea to two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer. Guiler originally faced charges of criminal threat and aggravated assault, after a five and a half hour standoff with law enforcement authorities in June.Guiler was ordered to complete all recommended mental health treatment and is not to possess any weapons.
