An Earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck near Wellington, Kansas at about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday and was felt in the Manhattan area.

Riley County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins tells KMAN he spoke with personnel at Tuttle Creek Dam who said the quake was not strong enough to set off any alarms there. Phone calls and tweets came into KMAN saying they felt the quake for five to 10 seconds and the quake was felt by some at the KMAN studios and offices.

There are no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
