December unemployment numbers for the Manhattan Metropolitan area in December were up slightly from the month before but still down from the previous year at the same time. 3.7%was the December 2014 number for the Manhattan metro area, which includes Riley, Pottawatomie, and Geary Counties. That’s up from November’s 3.6% but down from 4.4% last year.
The city of Manhattan by itself was 3.1%, also up from November but down from last year.
The Manhattan Metropolitan area has the second lowest unemployment rate in the state, with December numbers showing the 3.7% number compared to Lawrence/Douglas County’s 3.5%.
The city of Manhattan by itself continues to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state at 3.1%, tying with Garden City and just a bit higher than Leawood’s 3%. The city of Lawrence by itself is 3.4%. Junction City’s unemployment rate is 4.3%.
