Linda Morse filed for a position on Manhattan’s City Commission this morning. She is a long-time resident of Manhattan and a recent retiree of Kansas State University.
Morse is “excited that Manhattan is one of the economic bright spots in Kansas, but cautions, however, that wise decisions and management of resources will be critical to our future.”
Morse says she has a great interest in the new Comprehensive Land Use Plan that is underway. Morse has served for six years on the Manhattan Urban Area Planning Board and several years ago served on the Riley County Land Use Plan. Policies affecting the residents of our community living in flood-prone areas are a special interest as well as assuring the lowest possible flood insurance rates. These planning efforts will assure our growth includes safe and affordable housing options for residents. These are just a few of the policies that will impact the future economic growth of our community.
Morse adds Manhattan has a great sense of community with a diverse quality of life. She says she hopes to be part of setting the course for Manhattan’s future.
Also filing for election to City Commission Friday was John Ball, who ran for the position two years ago. Ball says he wants to focus on the future. KMAN hopes to get a more detailed interview with Ball later.
