Shortly after 7:30 Thursday evening the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 728 Galaxy Drive for a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews found a one-story residential structure with heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the structure.

Two occupants were home at the time of the fire and were able to exit the structure with their two dogs and a cat without injury prior to the fire departments arrival. The fire reached a second alarm before it was contained within 40 minutes. A total of 20 firefighters responded on 7 fire apparatus.

The single family structure received an estimated loss of $162,000 to the structure and $50,000 to contents. The occupants of the structure are displaced at this time. The owners are listed as Angela and Deon Toy of Manhattan. The fire cause is under investigation at this time.
