WIBW and Cox Communications reach agreement

    Updated 1/13/15:

Few details are being released regarding an agreement early this week between Cox Communications and Gray TV, which includes WIBW TV or Channel 13 in Topeka. For five days Cox Communications viewers in Manhattan were not able to view WIBW programming.
WIBW General Manager Jim Ogle would only officially tell KMAN “We’re happy to be on and thanks to all our viewers.” Ogle did confirm several calls and questions the past six days.

A local representative from Cox Communications had not yet returned a call from KMAN. The Cox website only says an agreement was reached for retransmission consent of the Gray TV channels to the Cox line-up on Sunday. The news release adds that Cox regrets the recent disruption in service and appreciates customers’ patience and support as Cox quote “sought to reach an agreement reasonable to our business and our customers.”

Four television stations were impacted, including WIBW in Topeka, and other stations in Omaha, Wichita, and Panama City, Florida. Both sides had been told not to release terms, with top officials such as Ogle not even knowing any details.

At about 2 pm this afternoon WIBW and Cox Communications have reached an agreement, and the channel will begin casting on Channel 13 (and on 11) in the near future.
